Do I need to add more nutrients to my diet?
Im a vegan and this is what I eat every day –
potatoes, rice, bread, vegetables, 1-3 glasses of fruit juice, fruits,
some nuts and raisins, omega 3-6-9 supplement, 2-3 types of antioxidant supplement,
one a day multivitamin supplement, 1-3 teaspoons of olive oil
protein powder to meet daily protein intake amount, vegetable cocktail V-8 like
1-3 cups of tea, homemade hummus, soymilk, vegan soy sausages, tofu, cookies
ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO ADD? Thank you for reading such a long list
I can see that your diet consist of alot of supplements? I apologise if you find it offensive but in my opinion, unless you are having nutritional deficiency, i think it is not necessary to buy them because they can be easily obtained in a vegan’s diet ( eg: omega 3 can be obtain in linseed, antioxidant in whole range of berries,Guava, green leafy vegetables) .You can replace your protein powder with wholesome foods like bananas, tofu, Baked beans, Broccoli, Spinach, Almonds. Do read on and do more research.
From your sample list, i think you are doing fine, provided if you are eating brown rice instead of white rice, consuming a wide variety of vegetables, fruits, beans. ( throughout your vegan diet ) I suggest you can try out more milk alternatives such as rice milk and oat milk. You can add blackstrap molasses in your milk, they are rich in iron and calcium. Just remember whatever you eat, moderation is the key.
Hope that helps [:
You could drink 1 glass of red wine with dinner.
I honestly think you are eating enough but maybe take out the bread and processed food. You need whole grains for your body. What about some more beans? How about some flax seed, nutritional yeast and seaweed for vitamin B12 and more raw foods. That’s great that you’re drinking tea, which is great for the body. I know the first person said to add red wine, but I believe any alcohol in the system is detrimental for your health. Stay away from coffee and alcohol because they are damaging.
Hope this helps!
